Among them, epoxy resin coatings are the most common. These coatings have excellent chemical resistance, flexibility and adhesion, making them one of the leading products in the coating industry. Additionally, the safety of using epoxy resin coatings for food has been extensively proven, making them widely utilized in the food packaging industry.
Most food packaging cans require high-temperature baking to ensure the complete curing of the coating and the total volatilization of solvents and monomers. Epoxy resin is a thermosetting resin, meaning that its reaction during high-temperature curing is irreversible. Once cured, it will not chemically react with the contents of the food, making it an ideal material for internal coatings in food packaging cans.

Epoxy/polyamide coatings are epoxy resin coatings, which are cured film coatings. Epoxy resin is generally made of bisphenol A(diphenol-based propane) and epichlorohydrin polymerization. According to different degrees of polymerization, the molecular weight of epoxy resin is different. From the perspective of health, the larger the molecular weight (that is, the smaller the epoxy value), the more stable it is, and the less likely it is to dissolve harmful substances and migrate to food, so its safety is higher. As curing agent of epoxy resin coating, polyamide itself is a kind of polymer compound, no toxicity has been reported. The quality of polyamide cured epoxy resin (epoxy value of epoxy resin) is closely related to the proportion of curing agent and curing degree. The higher the curing degree, the less the uncured substance migrated to the food in the epoxy resin coating.
