Application

 

As a primer, epoxy resin coatings exhibit exceptional adhesion and corrosion resistance. These characteristics make epoxy resin a preferred choice for cathodic electrophoretic coatings. Additionally, epoxy resin can undergo cationization through two distinct methods. This versatility further enhances its potential applications.

 

Direct amine neutralization

 

Some epoxies (epoxy equivalent EN >Cationic polymers can be formed by opening the epoxy group directly using secondary amine or ketoimide, followed by neutralization. This process results in the formation of polymers with a positive charge. It is a straightforward method for creating cationic polymers, which have numerous applications in various fields. By rearranging the original content, the important points are maintained while presenting the information in a slightly different way.

Compound and become the main resin of cathode electrophoretic coating, the basic principle is similar to the ring-opening reaction process of propylene epoxy acrylate.

 

For epoxy resins with smaller epoxy equivalents, it is often necessary to expand the chain first to obtain modified epoxy resins with larger epoxy equivalents, and then amination

Acid neutralization results in the main resin of cathodic electrophoretic coating. Common ones are bisphenol A chain extension, polyamine chain extension and polyether (ester) diol chain extension.

After chain extension, the resin contains a certain amount of lateral hydroxyl group, so the flexibility and adhesion of the film can be improved.
