Introduction To Classification Of Epoxy Adhesives

Morphological classification
There are various types of adhesives available in the market. These can be broadly classified into solvent-free adhesive, solvent-based adhesive, and water-based adhesive. Water-based adhesives can be further categorized into two kinds- water emulsion and water-soluble. Apart from these, paste adhesive and film adhesive such as epoxy adhesive film are also commonly used. Depending on the application and requirement, one can choose from these types of adhesives.

 


According to curing conditions
Glue that cures without heat, also known as cold curing glue, can be further classified into two types based on temperature: low temperature curing glue and curing temperature glue.

 

<15℃; Room temperature curing glue, curing temperature 15-40℃.
Heat setting glue. It can be divided into: medium temperature curing glue, curing temperature of about 80-120 ℃; High temperature curing glue, curing temperature >150℃.
In addition to traditional curing methods, there are several alternative methods for curing adhesive. Light curing adhesive involves using UV light to initiate the curing process of the adhesive. Wet surface and water curing adhesive can be applied to surfaces that are not completely dry, which is convenient for certain applications. Latent curing adhesive cures only when exposed to a specific trigger, such as heat, moisture, or pressure. These alternative curing methods offer added convenience and tailor-made solutions for specific adhesive applications.

When it comes to product labeling, there are a few key elements to consider. One essential feature is the adhesive name, which helps to identify the specific type of product being sold. Additionally, it's important to include information about the variety of the product, such as whether it is organic, low-fat, or gluten-free. Finally, standard number sequence labeling can be used to further clarify important details about the product and ensure that it meets all necessary safety and quality standards. By including all of these elements in a clear and concise manner, product labeling can help consumers make informed choices about what they buy and use.

 


According to the bonding strength
Structural adhesive, shear and tensile strength is large, but also should be high uneven pulling strength, so that the adhesive joint can withstand vibration, fatigue and impact and other loads in a long time. At the same time should also have high heat resistance and weather resistance. Generally, the shear strength of steel-steel at room temperature is greater than 25MPa, and the tensile strength is greater than 33MPa. Uneven tearing strength >40kN/m.
A type of adhesive known as secondary stress structural adhesive can endure moderate amounts of pressure. Its shear strength typically ranges between 17-25MPa, while its uneven tear strength is around 20-50kN/m.
